V-16 Signals

Evaluation of the approved and implemented processes, as well as adequate means to manufacture the V-16 devices to be certified by Spanish Directorate General of Traffic (DGT).

The minimum requirements of a quality system, which ensures compliance with an effective control of the manufacturing, are set by different Spanish Royal Decrees and DGT guideline letters for this type of devices, as well as by the CSC UCA (quality systems criteria). The V-16 Evaluation Procedure, available in Documents area of this website, sets out in detail all these requirements for applicants.

The provision of a current certificate of initial assessment or conformity of production according to UN Regulation No. 65 is considered to meet the minimum requirements to comply with the initial certification requirements necessary to obtain V-16, so in these cases an extension will be requested to the UCA of the scope covered by the current certification, in order to assess the processes and additional production conformity plans that are necessary to obtain the initial assessment of V-16 devices. In case the applicant has neither a valid initial assessment certificate nor a certificate of conformity of production according to UN Regulation No. 65, the applicant shall directly apply for V-16 initial assessment. Depending on these aspects and the arrangements defined in the V-16 Evaluation procedure, the first audit could be Documentary or On Site.

To go through the evaluation procedure and obtain the certificate, The official V-16 Initial Assessment Request (see documents area of this website) must be completed and signed by a person in charge. All the necessary documentation (indicated in the application itself) must be sent along with the application form to: uca@ffii.es.

The cost of the evaluation process depends on the type of audit (Documentary or On-site). The rate for a working day can be consulted in the general rates published in the documents area of this website. Visits outside Spain will require an extra charge for the travel and accommodation expenses of the audit team.
